Three people die after reportedly consuming illicit alcohol in Nakuru

Three people have been reported dead after allegedly consuming illicit alcohol in Lanet area, Bahati Constituency, Nakuru County.

Confirming the incident, Nakuru County Teaching and Referral Hospital Medical Superintendent James Waweru said that two people — aged 37 and 41 — died while receiving treatment, while the body of one person was brought to the facility’s morgue on Saturday morning.

Police say that more people might have been affected by the liquor, which was brought by one of the deceased and shared it with friends.

Police are trying to find the source of the liquor in question.

“They had a few drinks during the day but it all went downhill at night. I was woken up by screams from their kin. The first two deceased persons were friends so we suspect that they drank together,” John Nguandaru, a Nyumba Kumi chair, told Citizen Digital.

The victims reportedly complained of stomach pains, loss of vision and general fatigue.
