Three police officers in court for allegedly defrauding two German nationals of KSh2.6 million

Three police officers and a businessman have been arraigned in Busia High Court on allegations of defrauding two German nationals of KSh2.6 million within Busia town.

The three officers (Busia officer commanding station inspector James Wairia, his assistant Willy Kibelio and Douglas Rono, together with businessman Paul Wanjala Ogongo are alleged to have committed the crime on 25th February 2024.

According to the prosecution led by Shally Chepkonga, the alleged accused persons committed the crime on the said dates and the prosecution was considering the case to be heard in a different court other than Busia Court.

In his rulling, Judge S.W Musyoka granted prosecution prayers and ordered the four be remanded at kakamega Police Station for seven days pending investigations.

The case will at the same time be heard in a Kakamega court.
