Three watchmen were on Saturday morning found murdered in Migori town, and one of the bodies dumped in River Migori.
The lifeless bodies of the night security guards bore severe injuries to their necks and heads, fueling the outrage of residents who blame the police for neglecting night patrols.
Local residents are deeply concerned about the deteriorating security situation in their town, and they are now urgently calling on Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof. Kithure Kindiki to take action.
According to Citizen Digital, residents are surprised that the murders occurred especially considering that two of the watchmen were reportedly killed in close proximity to a bank guarded by police officers.
This tragic incident is the second such occurrence in Migori this year, following the murder of another watchman in February during a violent robbery.
In the February incident, a 46-year-old watchman named James lost his life, and the perpetrators made off with 18 motorcycles and 30 mobile phones from a shop in the Total area of Migori County.
Mark Wanjala, the Migori County police commander, reported that James’s lifeless body was discovered in front of the vandalized shop, bearing injuries.
