Thugs raid Kajiado church, escape with Ksh260,000 and other valuables

Police have launched investigations after a gang raided a church in Ilbilisi, Kajiado County and robbed a foreign couple of Ksh260,000 and other valuables.

Police said the robbers stormed the Elmarba Full Gospel Missionary Church on Monday while armed with crude weapons.

They gained entry to the church by cutting the window grills and found Jongo Kim, 64 and Young Me Kim, 60 who are a couple and missionaries.

Police said thugs tied the hands of the victims using manila ropes, ransacked the house, before stealing four mobile phones, a wristwatch, two laptops, a gold necklace, one bracelet, and one solar charger.

In addition, the attackers transferred Ksh248,000 from the M-pesa account of Jongo Kim and Ksh12,000 from the M-pesa of Young Me Kim.

According to the police, the robbers took the CCTV hard drive before escaping to an unknown destination.

The victims sustained minor injuries on their hands during the incident and a hunt for the suspects is ongoing.

Police also disclosed they are pursuing leads into the attack after recovering one black torch at the scene.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) visited the crime scene and interrogated persons who were close to the couple.
