The popular Gen Z couple, Tony and Kendy, who captured hearts with their whirlwind romance during the Maandamano protests, have officially split.
The two met at the height of the anti-government demonstrations, where their love blossomed amidst the chaos.
Their story went viral when Tony shared their journey on social media, and just two months ago, they tied the knot.
Tony recently announced the breakup on his Facebook page, catching many by surprise.
In his post, he humorously addressed the brevity of their marriage while declaring his intention to start dating immediately.
He even invited potential love interests to reach out via direct messages.
“NO MORE MAANDAMANO COUPLE 💔 Some may say it was as brief as a prayer before a meal 😂 I want to officially announce that I am no longer married 💔
Too much has happened, and there have been too many protests! My heart is wide open for any girl out there, just as long as you don’t smoke weed 🙏🏿,” Tony’s candid message read.
The couple’s wedding, held on August 25th in Nairobi’s CBD near the Archives, was a public affair.
They had chosen the location to honour the place where their love first sparked, and they invited Kenyans to witness their union.
“We, the Maandamano couple, Tony and Kendy, would like to invite you to our wedding on the 25th of August 2024 in Nairobi CBD, where we met.
All are invited. It’s about time we officially get married,” they shared in their wedding invite.
On the day of the wedding, Tony expressed his excitement, sharing details about their outfits and looking forward to starting a new chapter together.
“Tomorrow is the day to begin a new chapter. I know it will have ups and downs, but with God, everything is possible.
I pray for us to have a peaceful marriage, even though we met in an anti-government protest 😊 See you tomorrow at Nairobi CBD at exactly noon. All are welcome. Kendi ❤️”
