Tory Lanez, the rapper convicted of shooting Megan Thee Stallion, arrived at a California state prison to begin his decade-long sentence.
Inmate records obtained by TMZ show that the 31-year-old rapper, whose legal name is Daystar Peterson, underwent prison intake.
Lanez is officially in prison
Tory Lanez was inducted at North Kern State Prison in Delano, California, on Tuesday.
The prison is located 145 miles north of Los Angeles. Lanez will serve his sentence after he was denied a motion for bail on September 14.
The same day his prison sentence commenced, Lanez’s mug shot was released to the public. However, there are speculations that it could have been intentionally leaked.
In a motion filed by his lawyer Crystal Morgan, Lanez’s legal team requested a suspension of his prison sentence pending the appeal.
The suspension would allow him to reside in the Los Angeles area with his wife and 6-year-old son.
However, his request was denied, citing the violent nature of Peterson’s conviction.

Appeal rejected
Consequently, the court cited his history of violating court orders, and his deportation risk as a noncitizen (the rapper is from Canada).
According to his lawyer Margan, the court was firm in its ruling with its previously shared process of reviewing Mr Petersons’ request.
In a statement, Morgan expressed the commitment of Lanez’s legal team to continue advocating for his rights.
Lanez’s legal team also indicated a future possibility of filing a similar motion for bail in the appellate court.
Lawyer Morgan remarked, “Mr. Peterson’s case has been a challenging one from the beginning.
Additionally, she continued, “Despite the hurdles we have faced, we firmly believe in his innocence and will continue to advocate for his right to a fair trial and the opportunity to appeal his case.
In finality, she highlighted that “The denial of the appeal bond is undoubtedly disappointing, but it does not deter us from our mission.”
