Police in Migori county in collaboration with the provincial administration are investigating the death of a 78-year-old woman at Akoko village who was murdered in her home on Monday February 19, 2024.
The body of the woman identified as Gaudensia Akumu Madanje was found by her grandson lying on the ground when he came home for his lunch break.
He said that before leaving home for school her grandmother was well and in good condition.

The body of the deceased showed multiple injuries which indicated signs of struggle before the demise.
The area Assistant chief John Kerry Otieno revealed that the lady was killed by a groundsman, who is a Tanzanian.
Otieno reported that the suspect is on the run and police are still looking for him.
However, the motive of the killing her is not yet known.
The area chief has advised residents of Migori county to do a background check on their employees, whether the groundsmen or maids, before employing them.
This is after the family of the deceased revealed it had no details of the suspect who was their employee.
