The transfer of all police officers who have served in one station for more than three years has begun today.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki says that the three-year transfer policy is a deliberate effort to address the inefficiencies that often arise from conflict of interest in service delivery in the National Police Service (NPS).
Speaking on Friday, March 8 morning after meeting with Murang’a County’s security and intelligence team, CS Kindiki stated that the move is also aimed at ending the emerging culture of internal sabotage during security operations, with a special focus on the nationwide crackdown against illicit killer brews and narcotics.
“The 3-year transfer policy must apply mandatorily for all Police Officers Countrywide. Beginning this morning, all Police Officers who have served in one station for more than three years will be transferred to eliminate conflict of interest, guard against internal sabotage and enhance service delivery in the security sector,” CS Kindiki insisted.
The government says that the nationwide crackdown to combat the manufacture, sale, consumption and abuse of illicit liquor and narcotic drugs is a timeless operation that will be conducted until the menace is conclusively dealt with.
“Unlike past operations that were hampered by competing political and commercial interests, the ongoing exercise is a security operation to tackle a national threat and devoid of politics,” Kindiki added.
