Faith Kipyegon Is undoubtedly one of the best athletes male or female in Kenya.
In the just concluded World Athletics championships in Budapest Hungary.
Kipyegon put up an impressive performance dominating the 1500 and 5000 meters races.
The Kenyan world record holder has chosen to dedicate her second gold medal in the 2023 World Athletics Championships held in Budapest to her devoted husband.
Following her flawless performance in Budapest, Kipyegon expressed her gratitude to her husband and attributed her victory to him.
“I dedicate this medal to my husband Timothy Kiptum. He has been very supportive and he is an amazing husband.” She said
Her husband Timothy Kiptum is the 2012 Olympics bronze medalist, together they have a daughter named Alyen.
On August 27th, Kipyegon thanked her daughter on social media, highlighting her inspiration and vital support in her success.
“I will continue to push myself in the future. My daughter gives me amazing support; she always tells me I can do it.” She wrote on her Facebook page
The Kenyan champion achieved a time of 14:53.88, making her the first woman to secure victory in both the 1500m and 5000m events.
Kipyegon effectively kept arch-rival Sifan Hassan at bay, clinching her second gold medal at the event. Sifan Hassan, the competitor she has been contending with for a long time, secured the second spot with a timing of 14 minutes and 54.11 seconds.
Moreover, Hassan also earned the bronze medal in the 1500m race.
Kipyegon’s ongoing season is undeniably historic, marked by two gold medals and three world records achieved in this single year—an achievement that undeniably sets new standards.
