Republican President Candidate Donald Trump has declared victory over his rival, Democrat Kamala Harris, in the November 5 U.S General Election.
Trump, a former president of the first-world country, claimed victory Wednesday, November 6 (local time) after being projected to win key battleground states of Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Georgia.
According to a tally by The Associated Press (AP), Trump is currently leading in both the electoral college and popular vote. Trump is projected at 267 electoral votes, while Kamala has 224.
In his speech to his cheering supporters in Florida, Trump thanked the American people for electing him the 45th, and now the 47th president.
“I want to thank the American people for the extraordinary honor of being elected your 47th president, and your 45th president,” he said. “I will fight for you, for your family and your future every single day. I will be fighting for you with every breath in my body. I will not rest until we have delivered the strong, safe and prosperous America that our children deserve and that you deserve. This will truly be the golden age of America.”
Trump also pledged to help the U.S heal. “We have a country that needs help and it needs help very badly. We’re going to fix our borders and we’re going to fix everything about our country.”
