TSC announces 19,943 promotions, recruitment of 8,707 teachers

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has invited teachers to apply for 19,943 senior administrative vacancies and announced 8,707 vacancies to replace teachers who retired.

In an advertisement on December 17, 2024, TSC stated that the positions available include chief principals, senior principals, principals, deputy principals, senior lecturers, senior masters, a secondary teacher I, senior headteachers (special schools), headteachers, deputy headteachers, and senior teacher positions.

“There are nearly 20,000 new promotion opportunities for teachers ahead of the upcoming academic year in January,” TSC announced.

However, TSC clarified that teachers who applied between November 12 and 18 for the previously advertised positions must reapply, indicating that some of the earlier vacancies may have been canceled and the recruitment process is being restarted.

The new advertisement outlines 19,943 vacancies for administrative roles, with the largest number in the Senior Teacher I category, which includes 4,703 vacancies for regular primary schools at Job Group C3.

Other notable vacancies include 3,653 Deputy Head Teacher II positions in primary schools (Job Group C4), 2,221 Senior Master IV roles (Job Group C4), and 2,130 headteacher positions in regular schools (Job Group C5).

The commission is also looking to fill 1,987 vacancies for Senior Master III (Job Group C5), 1,408 Deputy Principal III roles (Job Group D1), and 786 Deputy Principal II positions in secondary schools (Job Group D2).

Additionally, 652 principal positions (Job Group D3) and 254 Senior Head Teacher roles (Job Group D1) for regular schools are available.

TSC is also seeking to fill 44 Chief Principal positions in regular schools (Job Group D5), along with three Chief Principal posts in teacher training colleges (TTCs).

Other roles include Deputy Principal positions and various senior lecturer positions at TTCs, as well as numerous vacancies for Senior Teacher I and Senior Teacher II in Special Needs Education schools.

This announcement highlights the commission’s ongoing effort to fill key administrative positions in schools across the country as part of preparations for the new academic year.
