The Speaker of the County Assembly of Turkana, Christopher Doye Nakuleu, has resigned.
Nakuleu tendered his letter of resignation to the Clerk of the County Assembly, Mr. Linus Lokawa on Tuesday, February 25.
His resignation comes just a day after his lawyer appeared before the select committee to respond to allegations related to the impeachment motion against him.
Nakuleu is the first Speaker to face impeachment in Turkana County since the advent of devolution.
His resignation has been fueled by the division that arose in the assembly following his disagreements with the current governor.
