Tusker FC interim coach Charles Okere has outlined the team’s schedule ahead of the start of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) season 2024/25, which kicks off in August.
Okere revealed that the team will head to Uganda for high-profile friendlies as part of their preparation for the new season. He also assured the club’s supporters that the new players have already settled in, and the early preparations have fostered a lot of positivity among the players.
Tusker will play their first friendly on the afternoon of Wednesday, July 31, 2024, against a combined team from Dandora.
Over the past three weeks, the 12-time champions have engaged in physical and medical tests for the players and have made significant moves in the transfer window. They have signed five new players: Jacob Onyango, Alex Onchwari, Dennis Wanjala, Eric Balecho, and Thomas Omole.
Additionally, the experienced trio of Michael Kibwage, Deogratious Ojok, and Charles Momanyi have received contract extensions, keeping them at the club for another season.
In Uganda, the Brewers are set to play three matches against NEC FC, Kitara FC, and Lugazi FC. Coach Okere believes these games will provide good value, as the Ugandan sides are also in their preseason programs and should give Tusker a clear picture of their readiness.
Charles Okere is handling the team until a substantive coach is appointed following the departure of Robert Matano earlier in July.
