Cape Media CEO Mwenda Njoka and Radio Africa Group CEO Martin Khafafa have signed a landmark partnership deal aimed at converging content and leveraging the ever-evolving media landscape.
This partnership will foster the exchange of ideas and innovation, driving quality journalism and producing content that will reach a broader audience.
Cape Media CEO Mwenda Njoka noted that the media industry faces numerous challenges, including shrinking revenues and disappearing revenue streams, necessitating strategic adjustments.
“The media industry must adapt strategically to stay relevant or risk perishing. This partnership symbolizes a new way of doing things. Collaborative journalism, as we are witnessing today, offers endless possibilities for media houses and journalists alike,” Njoka said.
Radio Africa Group CEO Martin Khafafa emphasized that this collaboration will create unparalleled opportunities for both media houses. He stated that in a rapidly evolving media landscape, staying ahead requires innovation, creativity, and collaboration—principles that this partnership embodies.
“This partnership represents a convergence of strengths and a shared commitment to delivering exceptional value to our audiences. Our goal is to leverage each partner’s unique strengths to create compelling content, drive engagement, and elevate our collective impact,” Khafafa added.
Njoka highlighted that the collaboration aims to produce impactful, audience-centric content while transforming industry challenges into opportunities for innovation and mutual growth.
“This approach has succeeded elsewhere in the world. In 2021, 600 journalists from various media houses produced the now-famous Pandora Papers exposé. The global impact of the Pandora stories was enormous, showcasing how joint media productions can positively influence society on a global scale,” Njoka explained.
Both CEOs expressed excitement about the new journey, which will see Cape Media’s TV47 hosting editors from The Star newspaper on the Television’s breakfast show.
