Police allowed to hold ‘Yesu wa Tongaren’ for 4 days

Eliud Wekesa alia Yesu Wa Tongaren will have to wait for four more days behind bars before knowing his fate after being charged with running an unregistered church among other allegations.

The prosecution had asked the court to allow police to hold the self-styled Jesus of Tongaren for 7 days so they complete investigations.

Yesu Wa Tongare was arrested on Thursday, May 11, a day after being grilled in Bungoma about his church which is based in Lukhokhwe village, Bungoma North Sub-county.

This development comes at a time when the government has intensified operations against unregistered churches as well as controversial preachers in the country.
