Tribulations of ex-Mumias Sugar Company employees living in misery after the factory shut down



Vilatis, 54, was an employee of Mumias Sugar Company. He worked at the company’s workshop when the sugar miller was alive and vibrant. He narrates how his fortunes took a turn after the company went under. “I cannot even assist my children. I cannot even assist myself. I survive on hand-outs.” He says the company owes him KSh410,000. His experience is a microcosm of the tribulations ex-employees of the company are going through.
