After 81 years of separation, since they were five years old, twins Maurilia Chavez and Andrea Lopez finally reunited in December 2023.
The twins were separated when their parents passed away, and they were split up among family members, with each living apart for most of their lives.
A genetic test eventually led them to each other, and within days, Lopez traveled from Las Vegas to Westminster to see her sister.
Their reunion has been filled with joy and the realization of a lifelong dream. Despite living apart for so long, their bond as twins remains strong.
“It’s good life, have a sister,” Lopez remarked, emphasizing the special connection they share. Memories of their childhood and the pain of separation have lingered, but their reunion has brought immense happiness.
“When I see my sister, I get so happy, I don’t do nothing but cry and hug her and squish her,” Lopez expressed.
Their story is a testament to the enduring power of family and love, despite the passage of time and distance.
Now reunited, they cherish every moment together and look forward to making up for lost time despite their advanced age. “It was like the first time I see her in my life because 81 years is too long,” Lopez reflected.
