An improvised explosive device (IED) explosion along Amuma-Ruqa Road in Garissa County resulted in the deaths of two Al-Shabaab militants.

Numerous other individuals are also suffering from significant injuries.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) released a statement on Tuesday.

They referred to the morning incident as “karma,” claiming that the terrorists had planted the explosive device with the intention of targeting police officers and innocent by-standers.

The DCI reported: “A gang of Al-Shabaab militants who were installing an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) along a road in Garissa County got a taste of their own medicine when the IED exploded killing two of them on the spot, while others ran from the site with life-threatening injuries.

When the bomb detonated, immediate justice was served to the Shabaab while the militants were targeting innocent bystanders and police personnel using the route.

According to the DCI, border patrol investigators discovered several pieces of the explosive device at the scene as well as human remains with bruised flesh, suggesting the amount of detonation.

“Scattered limbs, parts of the human digestive system, and tatters of the ragtag militia’s fatigues littered the scene, demonstrating the level of impact of the explosion,” stated DCI.

A battery and some wires thought to have been a part of the bomb were also discovered at the scene.

Since then, detectives have started looking for the injured militants.
