Kagumo Trading Center residents are in severe pain as a result of a horrific fire that claimed the lives of two young people.
During the incident, the four-year-old kids were alone in their house while their mother went to buy dinner. The youngsters were completely burnt by the fire that destroyed the house.
Upon his prompt arrival at the scene, Mutira ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) David Kinyua Wangui, reported that over 20 rented wooden buildings had entirely caught fire, causing extensive destruction.
“We are appealing for help, as they have slept in the cold,” said Kinyua.
“Two children have died during the incident, but several people were left homeless,” added another official.
In anticipation of their final resting place, bodies of the two children were removed to the Kerugoya Hospital Mortuary for preservation.
Meanwhile, Kirinyaga County commissioner Hussein Alasow revealed that the fire started in one of the affected homes before quickly spreading to nearby wooden structures.
In spite of this, the fire’s underlying cause is still unknown. However, Alasow stated that the event is being investigated by law enforcement.
