Two high school students were apprehended while traveling from Busia to Nairobi with a substantial quantity of cannabis.
The suspects, a 17-year-old in Form 4 and a 16-year-old in Form 3, were onboard a Guardian Angel bus, when law enforcement officials made the discovery.
The arrest took place at the Suo roadblock, where a vigilant multi-agency team had been stationed.
Acting on a credible tip-off, the officers conducted a meticulous search of the bus. Their efforts paid off when they uncovered five bales of cannabis concealed within the students’ bags.
The total weight of the seized drugs was an alarming 23 kilograms, with an estimated street value of KSh690,000.
Following their arrest, the two suspects were promptly taken to Busia Police Station for processing.
Authorities are currently preparing the case for court, where the students will face charges related to drug trafficking.
