Three killed, 7 sustain serious panga cuts after botched attempt to kidnap two pupils in Kakamega

Angry residents of Ibokolo Sub-Location in Butere apprehended nine suspects, seven of whom are Somali nationals for attempting to Kidnap two children, leaving two dead on July  5th, 2024.

In a report given by Lunza Assistant chief, the suspects, seven Somali women nationals and one Luo man identified as Stephen Ochung, who was the driver, were seen at around 6;30pm in motor vehicle Reg.No KCQ 386Q, a white Noah.

The two children who were almost kidnapped are pupils of Mulwa Primary School identified as 14-year-old Bilal Ashika and the other is yet to be identified.

The police visited the scene and found that the suspects had been subjected to mob justice by angry members of the public.

Two of the suspects who succumbed to injuries included the driver, while the others sustained injuries from machete cuts.

They were then rescued and taken to Butere Sub-County Hospital in critical condition.

Subsequently, two identity cards were recovered at the crime scene, one belonging to the driver and another Somali ID card belonging to a female Somali adult named Amala Warsame Yusuf.

Bodies of the deceased suspects were taken to Butere Funeral Home awaiting identification and postmortem
