Two people died on Friday, January 17 evening following a grisly road accident on the Machakos-Kitui Road in Kaseve area, Machakos County.

The accident involved a head-on collision between a Toyota Probox and a 14-seater passenger matatu.

Confirming the incident, Machakos County Police Commander Patrick Lobolia said the two persons who died on the spot were the driver of the Toyota Probox and his passenger. The matatu was heading to Machakos Town while the Probox was heading towards the Kitui general direction.

Several passengers onboard the matatu sustained injuries and were rushed to Machakos Level 5 Hospital for treatment.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the driver of the Toyota Probox lost control of the vehicle, swerving into the lane of the matatu.

The wreckage of the two vehicles were towed to Machakos Police Station awaiting inspection and necessary action.
