Two masons killed, two others injured after perimeter wall collapse in Runda

Two masons (painters) have been killed and two others seriously injured after a perimeter wall they were decorating collapsed at Runda Garden Estate, Nairobi County.

A report filed at Runda Police Station indicates that the four painters were decorating the perimeter wall when heavy rains started, forcing them to take shelter in a nearby temporary iron sheet structure.

But as they were taking shelter as the rains pounded the area, the perimeter wall suddenly collapsed, crushing them.

“During the incident, two male victims namely Kioko and Loise Otieno were fatally injured while the other two namely James Otieno and Collins Shitandai were rescued but sustained serious injuries,” the report says.

The injured victims were rushed to Kiambu Level Five Hospital where they have been admitted in stable condition.

The bodies of the deceased were removed to Kiambu County Referral Hospital Hospital morgue, awaiting autopsy.

“The Investigations are on going led by the DCI Gigiri. Some statements have been recorded and the. The owner of the plot has not been traced to establish whether the collapsed perimeter wall had been constructed to the required standard,” source privy to the investigations told TV47 Digital.
