Two men are currently receiving treatment for severe injuries at Soroti Regional Referral Hospital following a violent altercation stemming from a dispute over a woman who is the mother of 10 children.

The individuals involved in the incident are 38-year-old Charles Okwale and 48-year-old Joseph Esenu. Their confrontation escalated into a physical fight involving the use of daggers and handheld hoes.

The incident occurred on a Sunday after midnight in Aukot Village, Soroti District. Authorities report that Esenu allegedly discovered Okwale engaged in a sexual act with his wife, Petwa Ajakol.

The Monitor reports that Okwale, who was in critical condition and unable to walk at the time of the report, suffered a deep and open wound on the left side of his chest, along with injuries to his arms and legs.

Meanwhile, Esenu was also receiving treatment at the same hospital, nursing deep open wounds on his head, arms, and back.

Esenu claimed that his wife had been involved in an unconventional sexual relationship with Okwale since 2015, and his efforts to end it had been fruitless.

According to Esenu, after leaving a beer party with his wife around 11:30pm on that Sunday, he discovered the pair engaged in an intimate act.

In his anger, he attacked Okwale with a dagger, but Okwale managed to escape and later returned with a handheld hoe, resulting in both men being injured in the ensuing fight.

Esenu further alleged that the incident took place in a house owned by Moses Achunu, whose wife had been acting as a mediator in their alleged infidelity.

Aukot sub-County LC III chairperson, John Michael Egadu, confirmed the incident, attributing it to rampant alcoholism in the areas of Ocamunite and Osimailling, which has affected both men and women.

As of the time of the report, the conflicting parties had not yet reported the matter to the authorities, according to East Kyoga police spokesperson John Robert Tukei.
