Two suspects who are notorious for stealing from parked motor vehicles were on Thursday, January 23 arraigned in a Nairobi court.
According to detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Embakasi area, Nairobi County, the suspects are known for targeting locked motor vehicles parked outside banking halls and for other car break-ins.
One notable incident, the DCI notes, was reported at Bensquare Police Post on November 23, 2024, where they stole KSh500,000 from a locked motor vehicle.
The suspects, Charles Mulwa Mwema and Shaban Maingi Rashid, were arraigned before the Milimani Law Courts for custodial orders.
The court is expected to make a ruling on the matter today (Friday, January 24).
A similar incident occurred on June 5, 2024 when four police officers were among six suspects arrested in connection to the theft of over KSh400,000 from a locked car in Mihango, Nairobi County.
Three were police officers from DCI Kasarani namely; Sergeant Antony Ndegwa Anwal, Corporal Daniel Lekakeny Sunkuli, and Constable Simon Macharia Maina. One of the officers arrested is from Ruai Police Station namely Constable Antony Mwenda. The other two civilians were Lukas Magwaga and Young Wakise.
