Two people perished in a road accident at Salgaa along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway on Monday evening.
Eight others, who were onboard a 14-seater matatu escaped death narrowly with serious injuries. The accident reportedly occurred when the matatu, belonging to Nanaki Sacco, got into a collision with a trailer and Probox.
Eyewitness reports indicate the matatu and trailer got into a head-on collision at Salgaa, as the trailer swerved to avoid hitting the Probox which was overtaking on the wrong lane.
The victims’ bodies were transferred to Nakuru Level 6 Hospital mortuary pending postmortem and identification. Eight others who survived with injuries were rushed to the same hospital for treatment.
This comes barely three days after four people died along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway aboard a matatu belonging to Eldoret Cross Roads Sacco.
The unfortunate incident occurred at around 3:30am. The passengers were reportedly heading to Nakuru from Eldoret.
