Two police officers and one G4S supervisor were attacked by a group of about ten men who pelted them with stones which resulted in them sustaining serious injuries today July 7th, 2024.

The contract manager at G4S reported that the incident occurred as they were returning from Kennol to Del Monte following a security guard recruitment exercise.

Their motor vehicle, a beige Toyota Land Cruiser, had its front windscreen suddenly smashed, and the right side window where one officer was seated was also shattered, resulting in serious head injuries.

Among the injured were Simon Munguti, a police officer attached to Samburu police station, who sustained serious injuries to his nasal area with a fracture near the left eye; Jecinta Wambui, who complained of soft tissue injuries on her right hand and right leg; and Dennis Kongani, a G4S supervisor who sustained injuries to his head and right hand.

The other three G4S staff managed to escape unhurt.

The culprits are said to have immediately fled the scene before any arrest was made.

The officers injured were then rushed to Bliss Medical Centre at Thika for medical attention and then later on referred to Kenyatta University Referral Hospital for further treatment.
