A family feud over food turned tragic on February 19, 2025 after two brothers turned against their 40-year-old kin, killing him on the spot in Mochokoret village, Ainabkoi Sub-County, Uasin Gishu County.
According to a report filed by the father of the three sons, he was having a meal with his sons when a heated argument over what was on the table arose.
The squabble spiralled out of control despite the 70-year-old’s desperate efforts to calm his progenies down, melee that culminated in the deadly stabbing of Emmanuel Kiplagat Sing’oei, 40.
The hope of resuscitating his son died down when a doctor at Plateau Mission Hospital confirmed Kiplagat’s death. A kitchen knife through the left side of the chest had robbed a life and a son.
Arriving at the grisly scene, investigators found the suspected murder weapon and a blood-stained T-shirt which were preserved as exhibit.
The suspects, Duncan Kiptoo Singo’ei, 27 and Kelvin Kiplimo Singo’ei, 25, were also taken into custody, and are being processed for court appearance.
