UDA formalises merger with ANC; Issa Timamy named new Deputy Party Leader

The United Democratic Alliance Party (UDA) and the Amani National Congress (ANC) on Friday, January 17 announced that they have merged as one party.

Consequently, President William Ruto’s UDA has incorporated ANC’s identity symbols in the new logo, imagery, typography and brand of the merged party, and shall resultantly undertake a myriad of other changes in the governance and operations of the party.

UDA has since incorporated former members of ANC Party in its leadership structure following the merger of the two parties.

Changes in leadership structure

UDA National Executive Committee (NEC) named Issa Timamy, former ANC Party Leader, as its Deputy Party Leader, while Omboko Milemba will now deputise Hassan Omar as Secretary General.

Milemba, who is Emuhaya MP, was ANC’s Secretary General. Mr. Kevin Lunani will now be UDA’s Vice Chairperson.

UDA Party Chairperson, Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire, also announced three former ANC officials to serve as new UDA Directors.
