The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has announced upcoming grassroots elections scheduled for April 11th and 12th, 2025, across 22 counties.
In a press statement on Monday March 10, 2025, UDA chairperson Cecily Mbarire noted that the registration for candidates is open and will remain available until March 21, 2025 at midnight.
At the same time, the UDA chairperson encouraged interested members to register through the online portal UDA.ke.
“The National Steering Committee together with the National Elections Board have today met to deliberate on the upcoming phase 2 of the UDA Grassroots elections. The UDA has so far successfully conducted the elections in 5 Counties.
“UDA Party is excited to announce the upcoming grassroots elections scheduled for April 11th and 12th, 2025, acrost 22 counties: Bungoma, Garissa, Islolo, Kajiado, Kilifi, Kisii, Kisumu, Kitul, Kwale, Lamu, Machakos, Makueni, Wajir, Mandera, Marsabit, Migori, Mombasa, Nyamira, Siaya, Taita Taveta, Tana-River, and Turkana. In these counties, 113,800 candidates have so far registered to contest,” read part of the UDA statement.
Mbarire further noted that these party elections represent a pivotal moment in the UDA journey towards strengthening democracy in Kenya.
“Grassroots elections are vital in ensuring that the voices of our communities are heard and represented. By empowering local leaders, we cultivate a leadership that is not only responsive but also accountable to the people,” she explained.
The UDA’s foresight strategy emphasizes participatory leadership as a cornerstone of the party’s democratic framework.
According to the ruling party, true democracy flourishes when every citizen has the opportunity to engage in the political process.
“We have procured over 10,000 gadgets to ensure that the elections are conducted seamlessly through a digital electronic framework that will ensure the election is open, free, fair and with instantaneous results at polls closure,” read part of UDA statement.
