Police in Wakiso District, central Uganda, have put up a manhunt for a 40-year-old man who allegedly killed his three-year-old step son as revenge following separation with the child’s mother.
Senkanjako Vincent is said to have committed the heinous act on March 26, 2024 and fled.
A police report says that Senkanjako and his wife Nakintu Florence used to live as a family but separated after the wife found out that he allegedly stole a mobile phone, T.V set and ugx 100,00 from their house.
“Nakintu was forced to leave home with her 3-year-old son and went to stay with a friend at Temangalo trading center,” the report says.
The following day, Senkanjako reportedly followed her with the intention of reconciling and pleading with her to come back home.
“During that process, he went with his step-son, to go and buy soda, but disappeared with him. The mother got concerned, at around 10pm, after waiting for them in vain. She alerted other members of the community and an immediate search was conducted,” the report adds.
The body of the victim was then found in a room next to their house with fatal injuries to the head inflicted by a sharp object, resulting in instant death.
“When such grievous crimes are committed like this, it shows the dangers that vulnerable children still face in our society. We are going to concert our efforts, to track own the suspect and ensure he is brought to face justice. We will not stop until he is arrested.” Uganda Police Spokesperson Enanga Fred said.
