Spotify’s Head of Music for Sub-Saharan Africa, Phiona Okumu, highlighted Vinka’s contributions to Uganda’s music industry and her innovative approach to music marketing.
Ugandan music has long been perceived as nonexistent with only very few reaching international heights like those of Jose Chameleone.
However, her passion for music eventually led her to pursue a career as a recording artist.
She has since gained recognition for her hit songs like “Malaika” and “Thank God,” showcasing her unique style and versatility.
One of her latest songs “Bailando” has also put her on the East African map as an artist to look out for in the next decade.

Vinka’s work
The Ugandan artist has also been praised for realising music videos that meet a high calibre of quality marketable to the world.
Vinka has also demonstrated her commitment to her music and fans through innovative marketing techniques.
One of these techniques employed is releasing a new single every first Friday of the month in 2019.
This helped create an enviable fanbase which she has been capitalising on to raise the bar on Ugandan pop music.
Vinka’s advice to aspiring artists is to believe in themselves, stay focused, and keep working hard to achieve their goals.
She joins other outstanding female artists, including Makhadzi, Maandy, and Xenia Manasse, as part of the EQUAL Africa initiative.
