Former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s eldest son John Jomo Kenyatta has dropped the firearm license case he filed against the government for withdrawing his permit to posses firearms.

This is after the plaintive and the attorney general reached an agreement over the dispute.

The state agreed not to confiscate the former first son’s gun and further indicated that they will abide by the procedure set out in the Firearms Act in dealing with Jomo.

In the consent adopted by Justice Jairus Ngaah, the matter was marked as settled.

In July Former President Uhuru Kenyatta dismissed claims that his sons are in possession of illegal firearms which the government is seeking to repossess.

In an interview with media editors, Uhuru revealed that his two sons own a total of six guns which are duly licensed. 

He said the boys (Jomo and Jaba Kenyatta) have each three guns, adding that they were forced to apply for them after their security details were withdrawn.

This was immediately after President William Ruto succeeded him.

“My son Jomo has never been interested in weapons. He was forced to apply for a gun after his security was withdrawn,” he said.

Uhuru added that his daughter does not have any firearm.

He further revealed that he requested the Kenya Kwanza administration to extend his children’s security for a year to give them time to adjust to the new life.
