Uhuru shares ways he tried delaying his daughters wedding:”I blamed COVID,elections”

Fathers often share a unique, unbreakable bond with their daughters—one marked by love and fierce protection.

For former President Uhuru Kenyatta, giving away his daughter Ngina Kenyatta during her wedding was an emotional milestone.

He candidly shared while attending Damarie Saada Musyoka’s wedding on December 7, 2024, in Naivasha.

The star-studded event, celebrating the daughter of former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, was graced by dignitaries.

Including Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti, Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni, and Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo.

However, it was Uhuru’s heartfelt speech that struck a chord with the audience.

Speaking of the challenges fathers face in letting their daughters go, Uhuru revealed his struggle with parting ways with Ngina.

“One of the hardest things is saying kwaheri to a daughter. I went through that,” he confessed, his words resonating deeply.

In his lighthearted style, Uhuru recalled trying everything to delay Ngina’s wedding.

“I blamed COVID, the elections, and even suggested more planning. But eventually, I ran out of excuses,” he said, eliciting laughter.

Ngina Kenyatta married Alex Mwai in a private traditional ceremony in June 2022, far from the public eye.

Alex, the son of Karen Club General Manager Sam Mwai, became part of a closely-knit family bonded by tradition and respect.

During Damarie Musyoka’s wedding, Uhuru lauded Martin Nyaga, Kalonzo’s son-in-law, for honoring traditions.

“You came through the front door, a sign of a well-raised boy. We congratulate you,” he said, emphasizing family values and respect.

The bride, Damarie, is a distinguished human rights advocate specializing in International Human Rights Law.

Though fiercely committed to her career, Damarie values her privacy, a quality that aligns her with her new family.
