UK rapper and YouTuber Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, popularly known as Yung Filly, has been granted bail after being charged with sexually assaulting and choking a woman in his Perth hotel room during his Australian tour.
The 29-year-old was arrested in Brisbane and extradited to Perth, where he appeared in court on multiple charges, including four counts of sexual penetration without consent and assault.
The alleged assault occurred after a performance in Perth’s northern suburbs on September 28, 2024. Prosecutors opposed bail, citing Barrientos’s influence with over 8 million followers and concerns about him fleeing Australia or interfering with witnesses.
However, Magistrate Tanya Watt granted bail under strict conditions, including a ban on contacting the victim, staying in Western Australia, reporting daily to the police, and posting a $100,000 cash surety.
Barrientos, represented by lawyer Seamus Rafferty, faces serious charges with CCTV and photographic evidence reportedly supporting the case. Despite this, Rafferty argued that his client was being treated unfairly due to his social media status, adding that keeping Barrientos in Perth’s Hakea prison for up to two years before trial would be excessively harsh.
Yung Filly’s next court appearance is awaited as investigations continue.
