University student denies smashing ex-lover’s KSh45k TV set

A student from Moi University has denied charges of intentionally destroying her ex lover’s property in Kesses, Uasin Gishu County.

The accused, Agnes Wangari, pleaded not guilty before Eldoret Principal Magistrate Kesse Cherono. She is a student pursing social work at the public university.

She was reported by her ex-boyfriend named Mohammed Ali for reportedly destroying his television set at his home in Kesses trading centre on March 3 this year.

Ali said he bought the television set for KSh45,000 after saving from his online jobs proceeds.

The court heard that an argument ensued on that day, when Wangari stormed Ali’s house claiming she was pregnant.

“On the night of March 3 at 10pm, the accused and her friend stormed my house alleging that she was pregnant which to the best of my knowledge I knew to be a lie,” read his submission.

Apparently, Wangari threw a fuss and began smashing his television set among other household items.

On her part, she argued that Ali had on several occasions physically assaulted her. That on that night, they differed on the pregnancy which turned messy even as two of her female friends witnessed the ordeal.

Wangari was released on KSh20,000 bond and ordered to return to court on May 23 for further directions on the matter.
