US-based Kenyan blasts toxic parents: Kids are not ATM Machines

Damaris Obiero, a Kenyan living in the United States, launched a scathing critique against toxic parents who demand financial assistance from their children abroad.

The TikToker pulled no punches in expressing her dismay and frustration towards parents who believe they have an automatic right to ask their kids for money.

With fervor, Damaris Obiero called out these parents, labeling their behaviour as unfair, especially considering that many of their children abroad were not financially well-off themselves.

Further, she highlighted that just because someone lives abroad doesn’t mean they’re swimming in wealth or harvesting money effortlessly.

Moreover, Damaris emphasized that life overseas is far from easy.

It’s equally unjust to pressure their children with financial demands.

The TikToker passionately stated,

“I know there are some hard-headed children who have disturbed their parents. However, there are some extremely toxic parents out here.

You cannot bring someone into the world and harass them. Living abroad does not mean one has money or has gone to harvest money.

No, it is not easy, and it is not fair to the kids. People are suffering out here because their parents have pressured them with financial demands, and then they squander that money.”

This US-based Kenyan TikToker shed light on the fact that some children do send money back home to support various projects like building houses or paying school fees for their siblings.

However, she lamented that these parents often mismanage the funds, leaving their children feeling frustrated and disheartened.

Obiero issued a stern warning to toxic parents, urging them to refrain from demanding money from their children.

She underscored that this kind of pressure can push some kids into the depths of depression.

Her message was crystal clear:

“Stop it. If your son or daughter has no money, they have no money. Period.

Do not force them to send you money they do not have.
