It is less than 24 hours before Americans go to polls, with more than 77.6 million votes already cast.
A new poll is showing Democratic candidate, Vice President Kamala Harris leading among the early voters in United State’s battleground states.
The poll, from the New York Times and Siena College, shows that Kamala is leading by 8% amongthose who have already voted.
The poll, released on Sunday, November 3, also shows that Republican candidate, former President Donald Trump is ahead among voters who are likely to cast their votes but are yet to do so.
According to the poll, Kamala is ahead in Nevada, North Carolina, Wisconsin and Georgia, Trump is ahead in Arizona, while the two are tied in Pennsylvania and Michigan.
However, a Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa poll released late Saturday, November 2 showed Kamala up by 3% in Iowa, a state that was considered safe for Trump. The polls were conducted with likely voters between Oct. 24-Nov. 2 and surveyed 7,879 likely voters across the battleground states with a margin of error of ±3.5% in each state.
Kamala and Trump used the last hours of their campaigns in Michigan and Pennsylvania respectively.
Bearing in mind that Michigan state has a large Arab American and Muslim American population, Kamala pledged to do everything in her power to “end the war in Gaza”. Michigan is home to 240,000 registered Muslim voters, a majority of whom voted for Joe Biden in 2020. But four years down the line, Arab Americans and Muslim Americans have expressed dissatisfaction in the manner the Biden administration has handled the war in Gaza.
On the other hand, Trump blew his own trumpet when he told the his supporters that he should have stayed in the White House, despite losing the 2020 election. “We had the safest border in the history of our country the day that I left,” Trump said.
