US embassy applauds Kenya police for arresting man involved in murder of US-based Nurse

On Monday 29th January 2024, Police officers arrested Kevin Kang’ethe Kinyanjui, a suspect allegedly involved in the murder of Margaret Mbitu.

The law enforcers through a tip from the public, made their way at an entertainment joint in Westlands, Nairobi where the man was clubbing.

Hours later, the United States embassy applauded the Kenya Police efforts in arresting the fugitive who had since been on the run after he committed the crime.

“Grateful for our partners in Kenyan law enforcement who worked with U.S. counterparts to apprehend a fugitive wanted for murder in the United States,” read the statement.

The incident is believed to have happened between October 30, 2023 and November 4, 2023 in Boston, USA.

Kevin is currently being held at Gigiri Police Station as investigations continue to uncover what happened on November 7th 2023.

“United States law enforcement, the Kenyan Directorate of Criminal Investigations, and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions have been working side by side to locate and capture the fugitive,” said the US embassy.

The United States and Kenya are committed to strengthening law enforcement cooperation to apprehend criminal offenders, eliminate criminal activities, and advance justice.
