US Embassy engineer shot dead outside a nightclub in Kiambu

Police have launched investigations involving an incident where a US Embassy engineer was shot dead during a confrontation outside Quickin Lounge in Kiambu town on Saturday May 25, 2024 night. 

According to a police report, the nightclub’s proprietor Alfred Nganga reported a shooting incident on his premises around 3 am on Saturday. 

Anthony Njomo Kiunu, 35, died after being shot in the back during a commotion that began inside the bar and spread outside.

Police officers from Kiambu police station responded to the report and rushed to the scene where they found one Anthony Njomo Kiunu, 35, dead.

He had been shot through the back and the bullet exited through his chest. 

It was established that there was a commotion within the club between two groups of revelers which escalated outside.

In the fight that ensued outside, one of the men drew his gun and fired; the bullet hit Njomo, who was a bystander. 

A suspect named Nason Kiteme, 28, a branding manager with Comfort Homes was arrested immediately after the incident.

The scene was processed and the body removed to Kenyatta University Referral Hospital mortuary. 

Meanwhile, the nightclub manager declined to provide more details about the incident, stating that the victim of the shooting was not involved in the initial commotion.

Until his death, Anthony Njomo worked for the US Embassy.
