On Monday, United States Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin arrived in Kenya for an official visit.
The American Secretary of Defense was warmly received by Defense Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale upon his arrival.
After his arrival, Lloyd Autin headed to Ulinzi House for a scheduled meeting with top military commanders.
Accompanying the US Defense Secretary on his way was United States Ambassador Meg Whitman.
Secretary Lloyd Austin’s mission
Secretary Austin shared that the strong partnership between Kenya and the United States in the fight against terrorism.
He hailed Kenya for her persistent emphatic nature in promoting democracy.
Moreover, He highlighted the significance of the American-Kenyan bilateral defence relationship.
Nonetheless, this relationship is crucial in addressing regional challenges which he tweeted about after landing in Nairobi.
The primary focus of the meeting between the two Secretaries was to discuss extensive bilateral engagements.
The bilateral agreement would take place between President William Ruto and the US government.

Origin of the Bilateral Talks
However, these took shape on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly which just took place in New York.
Duale stated, “As an anchor state, the meeting is meant to streamline and strengthen the Kenya – US Defense Cooperation Framework.”
Consequently, he continues that this is “for regional stability and security. Karibu Kenya.”
Duale on his social media account, emphasizing the importance of the meeting for regional stability and security.
Nevertheless, the United States Secretary of Defense Lloyd’s visit is seen as a sign of further partnerships between Kenya unlike before.
Previously, President Joe Biden hailed President Ruto during his UN General Assembly address.
Consequently, President Biden congratulated President Ruto’s efforts in helping de-escalate the situation in Haiti.
Haiti is facing a humanitarian crisis over its unstable government which is being outrun by gangs and organised crime syndicates.
Nevertheless, The newfound relationship has not been all praise for President Ruto as critics seem to believe he is giving more than required.
