A tragic shooting incident occurred at Lakewood church on Sunday February 11, 2024 in Houston, Texas in the United States.
The dreadful event unfolded after a woman walked in the church while the service was ongoing carrying with her a child aged about four and a long rifle.
She began shooting at the mass audience, sending worshippers rushing to find safety.
The church was in the middle of a live streaming service when shots could be heard in the background.
Two police officers who were off-duty quickly shot back at the woman killing her on the spot.
Sadly, the child she was carrying was also hit and is currently in critical condition.
A young boy was shot and is in critical condition while a 57 year old man was shot in the leg and is currently receiving treatment.
Two casualties have been reported so far.

Houston police chief Troy Finner who visited the scene has said that at around 1.53 pm the lady entered the church’s parking lot armed with a long rifle hidden in her trench coat.
He also complimented the officers who were off duty for quickly responding and saving the lives of many.
The woman’s motive of shooting is however not known as police are working to establish the root cause.
What Joel Osteen had to say about the shooting incident
Joel Osteen who is one of the cofounders of the church has expressed his devastation saying that he do not know why this happened.
“We’re going to pray for the 5-year-old little boy, the lady who is deceased and the other gentleman,” he said.
