Valentine’s Day beating: Kakamega Homeboyz Crush Nairobi City Stars as Posta Rangers Hold Sharks

Kakamega Homeboyz delivered a dominant performance, thrashing Nairobi City Stars 5-0 to secure their seventh win of the season in a match played at Dandora Stadium on Friday, February 14, 2025.

Moses Shummah was the star of the show, scoring twice in a one-sided affair. The opening goal came in the 9th minute through Glen Otunga, before Captain Moses Mudavadi doubled the lead in the 13th minute, finishing off Hillary Otieno’s low cut-back pass.

Just two minutes later, Shummah made it 3-0 after a well-placed pass from Mudavadi, giving Homeboyz a commanding halftime lead.

The second half saw Shummah complete his brace in the 49th minute, extending the scoreline to 4-0. Homeboyz continued to press, and in the 88th minute, debutant Hillary Omollo sealed the victory, finishing off a delivery from Shummah to make it 5-0 at full-time.

The result lifts Kakamega Homeboyz to 7th place with 30 points from 21 matches (7 wins, 9 draws), while Nairobi City Stars remain at the bottom of the table with 18 points after the same number of games.

In another match at Dandora Stadium, Posta Rangers staged a spirited comeback to hold Kariobangi Sharks to a 2-2 draw.

Sharks struck first in the 9th minute, with Ally Salum skillfully controlling the ball in a one-on-two situation before firing past Samuel Njau.

Posta Rangers responded in the 27th minute, with Felix Oluoch firing into the bottom left corner to level the match at 1-1. Both teams pushed for a lead, but the score remained unchanged at halftime.

In the 69th minute, Sharks regained the lead after Eliud Lokuwam inadvertently turned Leonlevit Osiago’s cross into his own net. However, Lokuwam quickly redeemed himself just a minute later, delivering a pinpoint cross to Oluoch, who headed past Sepstianos Wekesa to equalize at 2-2.

Despite late pressure from both sides, neither team could find a winner. The result leaves Sharks in 12th place with 23 points, while Rangers remain 14th with 21 points.
