VAR upgrade at the 2024 EURO that fans want to see in the Premier League

Football enthusiasts got their first taste of the brand-new VAR experience during the Germany vs. Scotland encounter at the Allianz Arena.

One of the VAR decisions was displayed and explained on the big screen, sparking calls for its introduction in the Premier League.

The decision, along with its explanation, was broadcast to the fans inside the stadium with a message on the big screen. The clear communication of the VAR process was lauded by fans all over social media.

Referee Clément Turpin also utilized VAR to review a penalty decision following Ryan Christie’s challenge on Jamal Musiala.

Initially awarding a penalty, Turpin reversed his decision upon review, determining the foul occurred outside the penalty area and thus awarding a free-kick instead.

This VAR decision, along with its explanation, was broadcast to the fans inside the stadium with a message on the big screen stating: “Penalty cancelled.”

Scotland’s Ryan Porteous received a straight red card for a reckless tackle on Ilkay Gündogan just before halftime after a swift VAR review.

Germany began their Euro 2024 campaign with an impressive 5-1 win over Scotland on Friday.

Goals from Florian Wirtz, Jamal Musiala, Kai Havertz, Niclas Füllkrug, and Emre Can highlighted a dominant performance by the host nation.
