Ven Canon Jonathan Kabiru elected 3rd Bishop of ACK Nairobi Diocese

Venerable Canon Jonathan Kabiru has been elected as the third Bishop of the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK), Diocese of Nairobi.

Kabiru was elected by the Electoral College, consisting of 23 delegates, on Saturday, January 18. He was vying for the position against two other candidates; Ven Canon Joshua Omungo and Canon Dr. Sammy Wainaina.

The diocese says that the Bishop-elect has been one of the senior clergy deeply involved in advocating for the Anglican identity in upholding its liturgy approach to worship.

“He has been consistent at the forefront ensuring that Scripture, tradition and reason; as the main sources of Anglican authority, continue to inform the urban Anglican way of life,” the ACK Nairobi Diocese says.

Kabiru’s leadership and experience is expected to serve as a beacon of moral guidance instrumental in addressing the challenges facing the urban population in Nairobi City.
