Former Real Madrid Manager and a legendary figure in French football Zinedine Zidane, displayed his enduring talent in a recent charity match played in France, nearly two decades after retiring from the professional football.
Known for his remarkable achievements such as winning the Ballon d’Or and the World Cup, Zidane bid farewell to the sport at the age of 34 following the 2006 World Cup in Germany. However, his recent performance showed that time had not diminished his skills on the field.
Taking part in a charitable event at the Stade Chaban-Delmas (formerly Parc Lescure), Zidane proudly represented his childhood club, Girondins Bordeaux. His display on during the game was nothing short of extraordinary, captivating the audience with his exceptional skills.
In a breathtaking moment, Zidane showcased his exceptional ball control over nearly 50 meters, earning thunderous applause from spectators amazed by the finesse of the 51-year-old football icon. Though his impressive play nearly resulted in a goal, it unfortunately hit the crossbar after setting up a teammate.
Facing off against Varieties Club de France, Zidane’s Bordeaux emerged victorious with a final score of 5-3. The match, organized to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Parc Lescure, brought together a constellation of France’s football legends.
Notably, the event raised €72,786 for charitable causes, with the proceeds benefiting the Abbé Pierre Foundation, dedicated to addressing housing issues in France, and Secours Populaire, a grassroots organization providing aid to those in need.
