[Video] More than 25 arrested overnight as NACADA, police crack down on shisha smokers

NACADA, in conjunction with police officers, on Friday, December 22 night conducted an operation targeting nightclubs selling the banned shisha substance.

The operation conducted in Kilimani and Hurlingham areas, Nairobi saw more than 25 revellers busted partaking in smoking the illegal substance arrested.

At Yejoka Garden Restaurant on Wood AVenue, a whopping 117 shisha pots were seized.

According to the National Agency for the Campaign Against Drug Abuse (NACADA) CEO Anthony Omerikwa, operation against shisha will be extended to other parts of the country.

Despite the fact that sale and use of shisha was banned in kenya, it is still widely used in the country.

“This thing (shisha) has permeated our society so much. It is
affecting our children. It is affecting the masses in the country and
productivity,” Omerikwa says, adding, “This campaign will continue. We’ll make sure that we get rid of this drug that is affecting our people and the country.”

Kenya placed a ban on the sale, use and advertising of shisha.
