Comedian cum activist Eric Omondi is currently being held by police at the Parliament Police Station after he led a group of women in a demonstration outside the Parliament precincts.
The group largely made up of 200 women were protesting under the banner “Mama Mboga Revolution,” led by comedian Eric Omondi.
The demonstrators were waving placards with messages such as “Mama Mboga Revolution,” “Wabunge Wasaliti,” and “No to Finance Bill.”
The protest temporarily disrupted traffic on Parliament Road before police cleared the area.
However, the protests were cut short after police officers intervened to quell the escalating demonstrations.
Upon intervention, the officers arrested the comedian who despite the arrest, adamantly shouted as he attempted to rally the protestors.
This is not the first time the Comedian has brushed holders with the law In February last year, Omondi was similarly arrested for leading protests against the high cost of living outside Parliament Buildings.
Eric Omondi alongside other activists participated in the blocking of Parliament Road in an attempt to compel the government to lower the prices of basic commodities.
The officers who were manning the buildings were forced to lob tear gas canisters to disperse the protestors.
