Vihiga County secretary Ezekiel Ayiego collapsed and died at his house in Handidi, Lurambi Sub County -Kakamega County.

Reports indicate that Ayiego collapsed and died on Tuesday November 5, 2024 in the evening after taking his supper without showing any signs of sickness.

The incident was confirmed by  Vihiga County Governor Wilber Ottichilo, who described Ayiego’s death as a blow to the family as well as the county.

“It is with deep sadness that I have learned of the passing of Ezekiel Marley Ayiego, who was serving as the County Secretary and Head of County Public Service in the Vihiga County Government at the time of his death,” he stated.

In addition, the governor noted that Ayiego was a very resourceful member of society who was committed to service delivery. 

“Mr. Ayiego, who unexpectedly passed away last night at his residence, was a committed administrator, educator, change advocate, and a dear friend to me and many others. 

“He served as a highly efficient County Secretary in my administration, where we diligently collaborated to reform the Vihiga County Public Service,” the governor stated.

He was born on October 20, 1967, in Ingidi village, Lugaga Wamuluma Ward in Vihiga County.

Ayiego served as the principal of Chesamisi High School between 2018 and 2020 before he became the County secretary.

He also served as a principal at Vihiga Boys High School, Ingotse High School, Friends High School Kigama and Lwanda Secondary School.
