In a shocking incident at Kayole estate, a middle-aged woman is fighting for her life at Naivasha Level 4 hospital after her estranged husband unleashed a horrific attack.
The assailant, a former AP officer now employed by Nakuru County government, allegedly splashed boiling water on his wife and stabbed her abdomen, leaving her internal organs exposed, and her back covered in burns.
From her hospital bed, Pauline Wanjiku, the victim, revealed that the attack occurred after a heated argument when her husband arrived home intoxicated.
Without provocation, he boiled water and violently threw it on her. Quick-thinking neighbors rushed to her aid, rescuing her from the clutches of her attacker, who, having sought treatment in the same hospital, managed to escape.

Wanjiku disclosed that she had been living in constant fear, citing threats to her family by her estranged husband.
This is not the first time she has faced such brutality, as confirmed by her mother, Regina Njeri, who emphasized the repeated nature of the attacks.
Authorities actively consider the suspect, currently evading capture, as dangerous, especially when under the influence of alcohol. Peter Njihia, a brother of the victim, disclosed that the assailant had a history of arrests for similar violent behavior.
Naivasha Gender Based Networking Cluster’s John Kinuthia expressed concern over a rising trend in gender-based violence, recording over ten cases since the beginning of the year.
Activists are alarmed by the surge in domestic violence, particularly affecting informal settlements in the town.
As the community grapples with these unsettling events, there is a growing call for increased awareness and urgent measures to address the escalating crisis of gender violence in Naivasha.
